Frequently Asked Questions

Parents, siblings and with approval, grandparents and other supporting family members, are welcome to stay at the Ronald McDonald House. The name of each guest staying at the House must be listed on the registration card that is filled out when your family checks into the House.

We ask for a contribution of $10 per night, however, no family will be turned away if they do not have the ability to pay.

Due to COVID-19, families are only able to use the microwave to reheat food. Residents are not allowed to cook or use the stoves at this time. There are always baked goods and snacks available and volunteers prepare a hot meal nightly for families.

The House has a laundry room which you are free to use; we provide laundry detergent for you. An iron and ironing board are also available for your use.

Rhode Island Hospital and Women & Infants Hospital generously provide shuttle service for the transportation of our guests to and from Hasbro, Rhode Island and Women and Infants’ hospitals. We also have a vehicle available if transportation is needed to another location or destination.

All family members are able to stay at the House; however, children under 16 cannot be left unattended at any time.

No siblings under 18 years of age can be in the House without a parent or legal guardian.

Visitors are welcome at the House from 9 AM – 9 PM only and must sign in at the office. Please note that children visiting the House must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Additional family members may stay overnight with prior approval of the House Manager and must be listed on the registration card and advised of all House rules.

Parking for all residents is provided free of charge. We ask that you do not park on the street overnight and do not leave valuables in your car. The hospital shuttles can take you back and forth to the hospital at any time.

We ask that you keep your room and accompanying bathroom clean while you are staying. Also, please clean up after yourself when you use the kitchen.

There is no curfew when you are a guest here, but we do ask that you respect quiet hours of 9 PM – 9 AM.
